Take-downs of statues, defacing's, renaming's, reconfiguration of history in operation around the world generate bewilderment with enlightened commenters, in France, Germany, Washington. As if the recent iconoclasms in the east could not find an echo in the west. As if Covid is not dealing a severe blow to the concepts of sovereignty, nationalism. Anti-racism, vengeance cannot be the only motivation, given the heteroclite chapels of those participating. Iconoclasm targets iconodule, worship of icons - representations of real people having lived in the intimacy of God. By extension "iconoclasts" target overcome ideas, refuse tradition, notably when they destroy or profane idols, in real life or virtually. This what's happening, now, nothing new. The icons of a World Order are being taken down. The idols of mercantilism and profit in favor of "those that have acquired merit" on the back of others are being taken down. It's a pattern. In an ironic, almost compassionate, twist of history the former idolaters, having embraced monotheism, are now practicing iconoclasm on the icons of mercantilist idolaters. Thus, liberating their spirits. Icons are supposed to help the illiterate understand who they are - to worship. Let's see if today's iconoclasts can resist the drive to replace the fallen idols like for like. Let's see if our commenters will understand the compassionate virulence of Covid spread the concerns of others have become ours.

United as never before democrats and republicans in the United States are seeking to impose a new series of sanctions to stop the construction of the North Sea Pipeline, reaching from Russian territory directly to Germany. Sanctions are to hit anybody or anything touching this project from near or far. The idea is to substitute it - and the current system with the eastern-european intermediates - with imports of hydrocarbons from the territory of the United States. Seems farfetched? It isn't. Bullies in action. Nothing else to do, on your side? Just lay-off guys and take care of your own.
